I’m 22, and live in Canberra, Australia – the best place to live… if you want to be a public servant.

Since I was 11, I’ve always enjoyed the creativity offered by photography. When I was young, that meant sneaking away with my fathers camera which I ‘borrowed’ from him, but it soon became my source for enjoyment. At 16 I decided that I enjoyed it so much that I decided to leave high school, and pursue this art at TAFE, and while I’ve been criticised for making such a foolish decision, it has been one of my greatest and most fulfilling decisions I’ve ever made.

TAFE became my life for 2 and a half years, consuming me into a world of art, and joy. While it was strenuous and exhausting, it has offered me encouragement, strength and self confidence which neither high school nor university, I believe, ever thought of nourishing. It may be looked down upon in our elitist world, but TAFE holds my greatest and most enthralling educational experiences I’ve ever been exposed to.

I use my photography as an escape, a place for thoughts, and a place to feel what’s beyond the simple everyday lives we seem to be involved in. For me, my camera is a filter between me and the world, to leave simple parts of life behind and to see what’s really before my eyes. In times to come, hopefully this collection of small work will grow and develop, but for now, it is simply a small expression of what I am about.
