Thanks very much….I’m flattered
I’m not going to pretend I understand what’s going on here…I just know I like it…good one!
Thanks so much…..you rock !
I’ll do an explanation……but the work is dada, and part of its point is that it defies explanation.I’m a bit obssessed with Marcel Duchamp’s “Bride stripped bare by her bachelors, even”, and have done several versions in homage to it. One of the aspects of the work that I like is Duchamp’s view of the bride as depersonalised, an object of lust (to the bachlors), but unattainable, forever separated from them. (To me this represents one of the great concerns of the early 20th century…ie people’s allienation in the then newly-modern world). The Barbie represents this same paradoxically sexy yet sexless view of woman. Her wedding dress torn, exposing her (yet not, since she has no nipples)…..yet she remains smilingly unmolested and unconcerned. The bachelors can’t “get to her”. The weird picture next to her is an actual high Paris fashion runway picture of a ridiculous wedding outfit. This is the “veil” which looks like it is silencing the bride. The lips on the ground also represent her inability to communicate with the men, though they look pretty seductive. So that’s an interpretation……though being dada it can just as easily mean nothing…..lol
thank you so muchxxx
You are very talanted
and you are very sweet to say so….thank you
