Duchamp worked for IKEA for nearly 6 years, contemplating the myriad possiblities of assembling. by VenusOak
A little known fact of art history is that Duchamp worked for Ikea for nearly six years (though in a different store to Picasso, who only lasted 3 weeks). It was during this time that Marcel first noticed the wonderful juxtapostions of piled up furniture and accessories. He also had the leisure to contemplate the wonders and possibilities of assembling stuff.
