Tissss Lunch

Tissss Lunch

The Wife and I were outside with our visiting son. We are getting the ponds and yard ready for prime weather.. I heard my wife do an OMG. So I went over to see whats up… This is what I captured. My Wife thinks it was terrible. I viewed it as a bit exciting to see how nature works live. This is the one pick I decided on. It really did not take long and the snake wanted his lunch to go and was not going to wait for me to capture him.. Got Lucky.. Soon more nature stuff.. I will have more time to play after yard work is done.. LOL..

One off shot mate, thats for sure. What sort of snake is it? If I found a frog eating snake in my yard I think I’d freak out somewhat! Great shot thought chuck….like it!

  • velveteagle replied

Hey Simon.. Sorry but was busy.. Its a Gardner Snake. Also this guy wrote me about it. His comment was cool..
Nice shot, how primitively persuasive. Just does not get much better. Two eyes, not far apart seeing two different worlds. Wanted to share ..

  • velveteagle

    velveteagle

They have diffrent colors for diffrent parts of the country or world. Oh they eat night crawlers , Frogs, Toads.. Anything they can swallow. Snakes can move across water pretty darn fast.. I had one two years ago catch a gold fish out of the pond and it was weaving back and forth a foot over the water with it. I was inside the house and thought I was back in the 60’s seeing a gold fish fly over the pond back and forth.. The snake blended in so well.. LOL

wowsers is this an awesome catch!
my son and i were walking the flood zone earlier this summer when i hear what sounded like a kitten crying…ended up being a leopard frog who’s leg got snagged by a northern water snake…....i didn’t realize THIS till i picked UP the frog and noticed it’s…er…attachment.
the snake wasn’t very happy letting go but the frog got to live at least a few more min’s of life. :o)

  • velveteagle replied
