Fantastic work, Varry. Wonderful composition and use of solid shapes vs linear mark making. I love the way you’ve “blocked” this into definite areas.
Varry replied
Hello there Elaine, thankyou for your comment,i really love doing drypoint and this is from a drawing i did ‘05..i really “bonded “with this woman as i scratched away at the acetate and wondered about her “journey” hence the title.Thankyou so much for dropping by and looking at my work.
Nicholas Johnston
I like this very much Varry, it’s clear and intense, the contrasts give this face an almost stonelike quality
Varry replied
Hello Nicholas, thankyou so much for your comment ,the stonelike quality was EXACTALLY what i was trying to achieve in this print.x
madvlad

Varry replied
Her face tells the story of her life,im sure she danced and laughed and held someone tight!
Ming Myaskovsky
Varry, here you painted stories of her life, not on canvas but on her face.
This is a sentimental journey!!! :))
Varry replied
Good morning Ming, thankyou for your comment,i felt as though i was etching stories into her face as i scratched away at the acetate…this is a print that i am very fond of because of the journey i took in the process of making her come alive!I appreciate your comment
marieangel
This is a face a story to behold…may never having walked cobbles paved with gold.
