Peter was trying to avoid capture by the people persecuting Christians when Jesus appeared to him. Peter uttered this question…
“Quo vadis, Domine?”
“Where are you going, Lord?”
Then came the reply… “I am going to Rome to be crucified again.”

At that moment, Peter knew the time had come for him to give up his life for the sake of Jesus. He surrendered himself to the authorities in Rome who had him put to death on the cross. This once cowardly fisherman boldly requested to be crucified upside down… “For I am not worthy to be crucified in the same manner as my Lord.”
