It was very interesting and I was surprised to hear all the terms they use and what is involved. Most of these artists do their work illegal and can be very dangerous.
While I was listening my brains worked overtime and I came up with some idea’s for the exhibition , which I will have in May/June next year. Called : Our world of Fungi.
I also thought that a lot of artists get famous by doing something, extravagant, naughty or different, to attract the public to their work. This can be good or negative.
So I thought on Monday night : Why don’t I do something naughty to get peoples attention?
I was going to make stencil art of Fungi , buy a few different coloured cans of spray paint and paint fungi down the bottom of buildings with the text saying: Without Fungi, I world could not exist.
I would go out during the night so nobody would see me and hopefully I was not going to get caught. I had it all worked out.
I could see my self standing there and holding the plastic sheet with my design, while giggling from nerves, holding the can to spray paint the image on the building.
Then I spoke to a friend about my idea. And she said : I don’t want you in Jail!!!! Please don’t do it. So after I spoken to my good friend and also a fungi lover , I rang the forestry department. ( Who are in charge of the Public Toilet buildings at Oldina Forest Reserve. In that area we go fungi hunting a lot. ) I told them about my idea and if I could do it on the outside wall of the Public Toilets.
They told me I can write a proposal with my idea’s and send it to the person in charge at the Department.
So that is what I am going to do. I will be an artist which is going through the proper steps of trying to create public art. It might even end up being a Mural. Who knows? When I know more I certainly will let you know. Be safe, be fair and be proud of your self.

WOW!! How great! I love naughty, done right, of course….. :O) Sounds like a fun, exciting thing to do Esther, although it would have been kinda funny to imagine you stalking around at night, balaclava on, wearing black, holding up a stencil on the brick wall and spray painting a magic mushroom on it,,,,lol

LOL. Magic mushroom? Oh , I have to buy a special paint for that . Glow in the dark paint. What a great idea, Thanks Vanessa !!!

oh heck whats life without a bit of excitement…nothing like a bit of adrenalin with a bit of daring…lol its good to live outside the square sometimes
Esther van de ... replied
Charles , I am not going to do it. I will be and stay a good girl !! But it sure could have been a bit of an excitement. Even thinking about can be fun. Mostly the “preparing ” of things is more fun any way. Take care , Esther
