An accident can happen easy!!

I would like to bring something to peoples attention when going out alone into the bush. Please let somebody know where you go and by what time you will be back . Then when you come back let that person know that you are home safely. This is just in case something happens and by letting somebody know , the forestry or police know then where to look for you. I have been doing this the last two times we go out. Because here in Tasmania places are very remote and we see nobody the whole time we are out there looking for fungi. The last time we went out, one of our dogs got injured very badly. The vet had to put a lot of stitches in her and still we don’t know if it will heal properly. So you never know what can happen. So please make that call, it can make all the difference!!! Take good care, Cheers Esther

oh wow….glad to u know u’r pup will be ok!
so often i have people ‘nag’ at me that i shouldn’t be out there ‘alone’………sadly? it’s not like many volunteers want to GO out there with me so often me, myself, and i is the only one who does unless my son is out of school.
i always carry a cell phone…leave a note in my home…and tell my son where i am. not many of those ‘warning’ people listen when i tell THEM…
being a diabetic/epileptic isn’t easy for this either? i’ve had seizures and passed out…waking up in rock beds…or had sugars dump so quick i couldn’t think. lucky i’ve been able to ‘recover’ in time before others might panic.
a good note for our attention here!

  • You be very carefull Carla. I am glad you tell somebody when you go out on your own. It must be difficult for you sometimes. Being a diabetic/epileptic. I am happy for you that it doesnot stop you from doing the things you like doing. It looks like our dog is going to be ok. Some of the stiches came loose allready last night because of the big swelling. If this gets worse we have to take her back to the vet again. They have to saty home for a while when we go to the bush. Take good care, cheers Esther

Oh my…..so glad your doggie was able to be looked after. Some great advice. :) No matter where you are, even in the concrete jungle. :)

  • I thought I might let people know. Because not many people will tell were they go or when they will be back. Just for safety reasons and to make it easier for people to find you when something happens. Take care, Nancy. Cheers Esther

This is all very sad Esther. I know what you mean and it is good to raise awareness of the remoteness of some areas of our wonderful country! I do hope your dog will be O.K.

  • Thanks Lynda, today looks heaps better. The swelling is gone a bit. And the rest of the stitches have stayed in. At least it doesn’t look like like she is pulling them out. I am constantly amazed by how quiet it is. Even when we are on the beach. We can spend three hours there and see nobody. Still getting used to it. As I have grown up in a big city I can’t believe were all the people are. Do they go out and enjoy this beautiful nature we have here? Enjoy your day. Cheers Esther
