TVS STORM CELL

On June 4, 2008, a “severe weather outbreak” occurred in the USA. This is another record of that event, and the SPC had placed my area under a “MODERATE RISK” for severe storms with possible tornadoes.
This is an actual tornadic storm cell that was spinning on NEXRAD RADAR on June 4, 2008. Earlier this same system produced a TVS (tornado vortex signature) and was noted by trained Spotters to have rotation. This event occurred approximately 25-30 minutes before the storms reached my area in NE Kentucky. Fortunately for me, the system turned just due south only minutes after the TVS was spotted!
According to the Storms Prediction Center, 461 total damage reports were confirmed that day, and 56 reports were of tornadoes. A “severe weather outbreak” affected most of the Midwest and the Ohio Valley, and traveled due east all the way to the eastern coast.
Unfortunately there was a single fatality reported on that day. A motorist in Fairfax County, Virginia was struck by a large tree that crashed into her vehicle as it was moving.

Terry, this was an amazing storm system that came from a “severe weather outbreak.” On June 4, 2008, a massive severe weather system swept across a large portion of the USA, from the Midwest to the eastern seaboard. Thanks so much for your comments my friend!!xx

Looks like a good storm cell. Bet it was quite violent.

what a lucky escape…...but majestic capture
van049 replied
For whatever reason, most of the severe storms either “split and break up” before reaching my area or they turn!! Thanks Gaylene for your wonderful comments on this one!!xx
