death lurks (M)

death lurks

It was totally innocent, a plan to meet at the cemetery at dusk. Solitary, no one would be around, no one would know.

The air had a certain chill, the grass was damp with moisture & the frog songs were discordant in the nearby pond.

He waited at their favourite tomb, leaning against the grave stone. From his jacket pocket he removed a flask filled with whiskey & took a large mouthful. Clenching & rubbing his hands together in the cool atmosphere.

Then he saw a torch light flash twice. A dark figure emerged from the woods, it was her. Her trench coat enveloped her but her dark piggy tails hung on her shoulder beyond her beanie. He stood to embrace her.

Their lips met & traced the story of their love in a temperate flow. He tempted her toward the grassy knoll, she surrendered her body. The wet grass soon soaked her jacket; she felt the moistness beneath her.

He spread her legs, searching the folds of her clothing for his divine pleasure. He bent his head toward her needy mound & kissed her tenderly. She cooed in quiet delight as her lover tended her need.

The stars began to appear, blinking overhead. Fog lifted from the ground, setting a more eerie mood. Crickets joined the frog chorus.

He lifted her buttocks up toward his lap in his eagerness to join his lover in pleasure, but she slipped from his grasp & her head smashed heavily against the stone step of the grave.

She was quiet & still. He bent closer to her pale face then realizing the dark pool of blood dampening her piggy tails.

A tear stung his eye as he saw his truth. He could not stay. They would find out.
He gathered his things, left no trace & strode off down the hill.

Haunting story! It reminds me that just when you were least expecting things to go wrong; then, that’s exactly when it does all go wrong completely! Has happened to me before for sure; when I thought I was on top; I instantly got shot down. ;-)

Funny how in the back of my mind; when it came to the end of the story; and, it said that he had left no trace; I thought, some hair, fibre from clothes, finger prints, shoe prints, possibly, seamen -etc. would have been left behind somewhere to be able identify him to the police forensics; I guess, I been watching too many CSI/Crime Scene Investigation movies. LOL
