i heard of a man named Jesus
who walked in the Jerusalem streets
He was a simple man
no shoes upon His feet
He spoke of love
and forgiveness of sin
and people listened carefully
so many followed him
a man of humanity
knowing how to live
filled with benevolence
teaching others to give
he never carried a weapon
or spoke mean uncaring words
only love came from him
words of a beautiful heart were heard
but there were those who worried
that his love would be contagious
captured him…scourged him
acts so outrageous
he was scorned by men
with hateful souls
hung upon a cross .. will never be forgotten
his story many times retold
