An old lady [she was 98] gave me an unused linen bound sketch book she said she had had for a long time! It is Winsor and Newton A.C.M. watercolour paper Series W with 30 leaves. The book is priced 2s 10d [UK went decimal in 1971]
I have been reluctant to use it but she said she hoped I would enjoy it so I took it along to a sketching day. What a surprise ,the paper is very thin and takes lots of water without buckling!!! I would appreciate it if anyone has more information about this paper.

NOW seriously, my Friend…how do you do this??!!! Delicate and lovely!!

  • I was given this sketch book Sal. I know its at least 42 years old possibly older. Decided to use it on my sketching day as it was small and I had to carry everything on my Vespa. but I`d like to know more about the paper. Sprayed the paper with water and use inktense pencils. A bit of an experiment….. had a great day…..trees full of blossom.

This is beautiful! I have a set of Inktense pencils but really haven’t used them yet. This just might inspire me to give them a try soon. :)

A Vespa, huh? You’re a girl after my own heart….I use to have a little Honda 90 years ago. What fun!

  • Inktense pencils are a lot cleaner to use than the blocks Marsha. I`m still experimenting with them.
I`ve had all sorts of bikes……we were obviously both born to be wild!

This is absolutely beautiful Val, and what a lovely story. She would be proud of you. I love the colours and I love that transparent wax paper quality. If you find out anything else about the paper, I’d like to know please.

  • Thanks Jacki……still looking for info. Found an archive where the paper was used in the 1920`s but little else.
