Quietude
Pencil drawing, 11×13.75” (27.9×34.9 cm).
It started out as a simple sketch and yet it lacked something. The white of the paper and the roughness of the pencil didn’t seem to agree. So, I put it away for a while. Many days after, like a simple prayer it came out – a candle in the darkness, a beacon by the sea. I pressed hard with the pencil and covered her all around, then, it made sense to me – darkness and light finally agreed. This was drawn on regular sketch paper.

LOVE IT….

Lovely! SO simple…love the use of black all around it. You could have cropped right in but you didn’t, that’s what makes it so striking!

I enjoyed reading your description of your creative process here, and I agree with you, that it would be interesting to hear more about this from other artists. Beautiful work, by the way.
