Nelson Mandellas autobiography “Long Road To Freedom” was what inspired me to paint his portrait. The unusual shapes when viewed at a distance come together. The shape of Africa on his forehead enabled me to depict his loyalty to his own country.
Nelson Mandela’s greatest pleasure, his most private moment, is watching the sun set with the music of Handel or Tchaikovsky playing.
