Loving all things postcard I am really enjoying ytsumner’s postcard collaboration postcard collaboration. The idea is that you write a single word or phrase on a postcard and send it to her and she will write a flash fiction piece inspired by each phrase and image she receives. She is planning to do one hundred.

She has already written some fabulous pieces from the first few entries she’s received. Make sure you take the time to read them.

An exhibition featuring TTV photography by members of the InnerNortherns International Photography Group will be held at the Albion St Gallery in Sydney.

The exhibition runs from November 27th until December 18th and the gallery is located at105 Albion St, Surrey Hills.

The Opening will be from 6-8pm on Friday 27th November.

The exhibition features work by; Amanda Lowjen, Vronica Hodgkinson, Mandy Erskine, Mindy McGregor, Nahomi Yoshizowa, Rebecca Donald, Andrew May and myself.

The" New North Photography Prize":http://www.newnorth.com.au/index.php?page=prize... exhibition opened the Sunday before last. It runs for the whole month of November at the New North Gallery, 15a Railway Place Fairfield Vic 3078. Its opposite Fairfield railway station and I’m sure will be worth checking out if you’re down that way.

Prize’s will be awarded on the evening of Thursday the 12th and you can pop along from 6pm to listen to the announcements. The judges for the prizes are Julian Burnside QC, Jane Scott, Director – TarraWarra Museum of Art and Eugene Barilo von Reisberg, Director – BvR Arts Management. There IS a People’s …

I haven’t been on RedBubble in months and its all looking very strange! I suppose I’ll get used it but it may take a while. ;-)

I’m hoping soon to get back into taking some photos and uploading them, in the meantime I have also had some good news with respect to photos I’ve had in exhibitions.

Laneways and Dreams #1 was in The Women’s Salon 09 at the Counihan Gallery in Melbourne and sold for $190.00.

Laneways and Dreams # 5 sold for $325.00 and Laneways and Dreams # 3 and #4 sold for $100.00 each. 100% of the proceeds from these sales are going to help kids affected by the bushfires in Victoria.

Sometime in the last month or so my auto-focus stopped working. My Canon 300d is about four and a half years old and the lens is the standard ef-s 18-55mm kit lens. Manual still works fine but auto-focus just can’t, well, …. focus!

I’ve done some googling and it seems that this has soemtimes been a problem with these lenses but the cases I read ocurred when the camera was new and the camera and lens under warranty. Mine obviously isn’t anymore.

I’m thinking I’m going to have to replace the lens. I’m hoping, it being the kit lens and also used on later models, that there will be plenty of cheap second hand ones around.

But before I go trawling up and down Elizabeth St I thought it worth checking here. Has anyone else had this problem?

I was wondering whether anyone else was going to be in the Womens Salon 2009 at the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick?

I’ve been lucky enough to have a photograph accepted and am looking forward to the opening event. Is anyone else planning on being there?

The Women’s Salon is an annual contemporary art exhibition showcasing the artistic practice of women living or working in the Moreland area.

Women’s Salon 2009: Stories of Hope seeks to explore the positive ideas, stories and things that sustain us and give us hope, even in the darkest times. The exhibition features artworks in a range of media including painting, works on paper, sculpture, installation, photography and new media art.

The exhibition will run from February 20th until March 15th 2009 at 233 Sydney Rd Brunswick.

Tuesday the 16th of December there is a rally in front of the Melbourne Town Hall to call for a bike, pedestrian and tram-friendly Swanston St. The rally is timed to coincide with the new Melbourne Council’s first meeting, and aims to send a strong message that Doyle’s plan to bring cars back to Swanston St is not supported.

Those who are especially keen can stick around after the rally to watch the council meeting. The rally will be addressed by the husband of the cyclist killed earlier this year in Swanston St.

There are lots of ways in which this event could be interesting for RedBubblers in Melbourne.

As if I didn’t waste enough time on the internet already, LIFE magazine have partnered up with Google to create an online archive of LIFE photography. Beautiful!

Its a work in progress but so far there is a substantial volume of work from the 1750’s up until the 1970s. Enjoy!

Here at the Barrow Institute for Contemporary Welding (BICW) we have decided to inaugurate an official Artists in Residence Program. Mainly because one seems to have already moved into the shed and we figured we might as well try and get some arts funding to cover the cost of coffee and tuna sandwiches.

Applicants for the position should be in possesion of an arc welder, an elvis suit, a current drivers licence and be able to demonstrate an affinity for conceptual dragons.

Yesterday I found out that my translation of De vlindermaand or The butterfly month as it was published in english, has been longlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is presented annually for a novel written in English or translated into English. The award is an initiative of Dublin City Council, the municipal government of Dublin, in partnership with IMPAC, a leading management productivity enhancement company, with the objective of promoting excellence in world literature. Nominations are submitted by library systems in major cities throughout the world.
