Still Amsterdam
Bicycles parked outside our house in the Govert Flinckstraat, Amsterdam; 2005. Between the tree and the lamp pole you can just see the baby seat attached to the handle bars of my bike, covered in snow. In the mornings before setting off for work I’d have to wipe the snow from my seat and the baby seat and cover them both in plastic shopping bags so we could sit down without getting our bums too wet! God those mornings were cold, although I did like the sound of crisp crunchy snow under your wheels.

Thanks Judith. Another time where getting down on your knees in the cold wet snow proved to be worth it!

Heel mooi! In all my time in the Lowlands, I’ve never seen snow in Amsterdam…this is exceptionally beautiful, Faith. I can almost feel the crunch under my feet!
Faith Hunter replied
Lekker fris! Hey thanks! The last few years we were there we had some quite unusual big dumps each February/March. And yes, the crunch was nice! Riding to work in the snow and hearing the crunch under your wheels, before peak hour had turned it to slush! Except for one bad experience, in a seriously scarey snow storm with a ten month old in the baby seat screaming his head off while I tried to get home. That wasn’t fun!

Beautiful and unusual print. Is it really safe to ride with a baby seat on your bike? Do they make baby helmets?
Faith Hunter replied
they don’t make baby helmets, I think 1 years old is the youngest you can get a helmet for. But then no one in amsterdam wears helmets anyway. Here in Australia you can’t take a baby on a bike until they are about 1 and the helmet fits.

Nice, just like in Finland (sometimes). :)
Faith Hunter replied
but I think in Finland there is a lot more of it! ;-)
