Acrylic on canvas, 18×20
This is my version of The Pandorica Opens, from Doctor Who! It’s the TARDIS exploding!
I painted it for my boyfriend’s birthday, we’re both huge Who geeks so I knew he’d love it.
Some background from the Doctor Who wiki :
The Pandorica Opens was one of the final paintings by Vincent van Gogh, painted in 1890 and inspired by transmissions he picked up from 102 AD Stonehenge.
The original from the show:
david tennant, matt smith, amy pond, karen gillan, pandorica, the pandorica opens, steven moffat, who, doctor, tardis, opens, doctor who, dr who
The properties of light and spatial depth are the focus of my work, using thinly layered colours to convey a sense of spatial vastness. To this end, I paint astronomical phenomena, which allow for the greatest exploration of light in an incomprehensibly vast space. I strive to visually depict natural processes beyond ordinary human experience to instil in the viewer a sense of curiosity and wonder regarding the universe around us.
