Walking the wire

Walking the wire belongs to the following groups:

All Out Emotion and All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

It’s hard to make a decision that you know is going to hurt someone…
but what if by not hurting them…you are hurting yourself
at what point do you put others needs before your own?
and when do you decide that you and where your life is…
...is more important?
it can feel like walking the wire…sometimes it’s easier
because it’s only a foot above the ground
and other times it’s harder…and scarier
because it’s teetering 100 feet in the skies
and mostly life’s choices are not black or white
but a rainbow of colours confusing in a kaleidoscope whirl
at times you have to be selfless like a parent with a child
and other times you have to think of yourself
but when…how…and where?
finding the rhythm and wisdom to place one foot firmly in front of the other
taking the time to make sure it holds steady on the line
is not easy…it’s hard
I wonder if it can be done
or none of this world have mastered it
we’re all just trying and tripping
picking our souls up of the floor
getting back on
to fall yet again
up and down
a forever cycle
til the very day we die

I could totally relate to depth of emotion in this poem…
I think you described the feeling exactly. Fantastic writing!!

thanks phantomlimb!...I was slightly emotional when I wrote this…trying to navigate life…keep my footing…I find that’s the best time to write…when I’m teetering on the wire.. : )
