Artist's Description

This striking monument is erected in the grounds of Peles Castle in Romania. It is in honour of Elisabeth of Wied, the Queen Consort of Romania from 1869 – 1914. Peles Castle was built as a home for Elisabeth and King Carol I of Romania. Elisabeth was an eccentric, humanitarian, writer and surprisingly a republican. She was also known by her pen name Carmen Sylva. Taken with a Canon EOS 3000. Converted from film.
