Fabulous Uta…I just love this…great texture…very effective use of white…ingenious…

Thanks for your support Janis. The background is a bit darker than I usually do. I enjoyed it so much that I think I will do some more darker ones :)

Thanks Catherine. Been a bit slow getting back to the easel after Christmas.

Wonderful, as usual, Uta! Are the gourds transparencies?
Uta Mooney replied
Thanks Denise. I watered down the paint and painted the gourds onto my background. I applied less paint to the shadow side of the gourds and more paint on the light side.

your backgrounds are so yummy and rich in detail – must take ages to do – I particularly like the odd capital letter here and there, and what looks like bits of wallpaper?
Uta Mooney replied
This one has some cheesecloth, tissue paper and some builders crack filler used with stencils and then there’s a bit of rubber stamping. I love rubber stamps but I use them with acrylic paint and not a stamp pad. I love doing the backgrounds. Its just pure playing and layering and wiping back and layering some more. Bliss really.

The transparency of the gourds and the subtle colors are gorgeous. Yep, soon it will be gourd season here, fall I do love. I was trying to pick some favorite paintings by Uta to add to my profile page and it was tough to do. I am so glad I belong here now so I can look at your work over and over again!!!
Hey, I’ve got some cheesecloth, maybe I’ll experiment. Stay blissful…..

I was trying to get the dark look of the ole master’s paintings so there’s not my usual colour in this piece.
BevsArtCreation
Perhaps not your usual colors, but definitely works with the ole master’s philosophy. I feel drawn back in time when I look at this piece.
Wonderful work, young master!!!
