dog's breakfast

the quest for truth within soul
spirit of freedom
falling alive
make my skin crawl
barking up the wrong tree
have been making false assumption for donkey’s years
things have been done badly
time’s made a real dog’s breakfast of those core issues
a mere bag of bones
without muscles or fat
thin skin like pergament scrubbed through
through beyond the hard bones of the skeleton
ignited itself to ulcerated wounds
mouth was deeply gnawed by noma-abscesses
decaying bodies were full of water
the burning hunger
they swelled to shapeless bulks
dissolved their irresistant bodies until nothing remained
a line on the wall of the children’s block
angels frozen to death
on god’s earth
during the dark times
the inhuman experiments
empty spaces on the foundations of denial
a layer of broken bricks
structure leaves in the dust
bridge the gap between ideologies,
implementation and the real situations
possession of the skins
Biblical sacrifice
Olympian gods
gods of the earth
the spirits of the Underworld
spirits of the dead
malign powers
holókauston
sacrificial ritual
some burnt sacrifice offered to a god
the porajmos
devouring & samudaripen
ethnic poles
political and religious opponents
Holocaust victims
systematic murder of millions children
we really are apples and oranges?
be out of our tree
not have the faintest idea
nor able to use our senses and mental powers to understand what is happening
we won’t shrink from confrontation
we’re apples and oranges
shake in our shoes

Profound write, Ushna!!! Things on the outside will not change until purification within. If each individual, often without enough clout to influence governments directly, would do what is always within his or her power, to start by changing one’s self, the world will eventually evolve to a righteous state.

This one is particularly profound and soul searching, even for those of us who know of the Holocaust only from history books. empty spaces on the foundations of denial too often the case. A human being’s potential for doing good and great things is equal to our potential for great harm and even genocide. It frightens me when I see people going back to sleep and forgetting the very hard lessons that we were supposed to have learned in the very dark history of humanity. In my country, as we speak, there are discussions going on as to whether we investigate and prosecute those in the Bush administration who by their own admission are guilty of war crimes. Crimes that we as a global community agreed would never happen again. And yet, here we are. These atrocities are not those that a world wakes up to suddenly. They are a slow drip, drip process of dehumanizing scapegoats and blaming them for our socioeconomic problems. These problems belong to all of humanity and it is only by dealing with them in more humane ways and having compassion that we rise above the visceral vitriol that inflames the passions of those who are more susceptible to the violent and inhumane so-called… dare I say, “final solution.”
World War 11 and the Nuremburg trails were not that long ago that we should have already forgotten the steps that were taken as a global community to assure that we would not allow these types of atrocities to happen again. And yet, they do everyday all over the world. A very sad state of affairs.

A very deeply thoughtful and heartfelt write Ushna! We cannot think about these things too much and words such as these wake us up to the reality that we are continuing on a path that is not sustainable for human existence. Hopefully, they can inspire us to take action against them.

    And so….
    the Beast is within…..
    distorted brain….easily cheated, easily demured.
No one is safe….and no one is innocent. Of the living ones….we sharing the defectuous brain cells…
Desease.. spread like a malign pestilence.
The capital sins, are within us….and the opposite too.
The Torment and the Extasis of being a human Being.
Labelling all these facts…. “un-human”....not at all…Human as we are…
the Gods are a mocking farse, so us much we yearn for glory and highly spiritualization…
the more insane is the morality of the ones yearning….
we should educate when knowing… and know when to need education.
And re-collect our senses, of their escapism…sometimes… we should cry for others…
at least… as much as for ourselves…
    But we… mostly cry for …..what we sense…so varied…so subjective…so abnormal..
inside the absolutely normality…of our human-kind
    What kind of?

Hi Ushna – A very deep and soulful write of such a terrible crime not so long ago. My son-inlaw is jewish and the Holocaust runs deep in the family. Your words were beautifully written and no one should ever forget it. We stand by today and we watch and do nothing whilst children men and women of all ages are still being slaughtered. We are our own demons! Thank you so much for this reminder beautifully presented – David

this kind of writing makes me want to go grab a book or two…or three and research this. reading this has been a learning experience because I know very little on the subject you speak about….although I’ve heard bits and pieces all of my life…..the horror stories. It’s a frightening reality to know that humans could do certain things to other humans based on

    what?

I enjoy an read like this because it reminds me that my issues aren’t as bad as they may seem and that there is always someone somewhere who has experienced more or worse. Puts me in a spirit of lending myself to a greater cause.
