Have I been waiting long?

He comes not when summer is on the roses
he comes not when the roses were in full bloom
he comes not when I rang the bell and waited in the winter
(Have I been waiting long?)
he comes not when September had come and the leaves were starting to fall
he doesn’t feel a drop of rain
he comes not when I walked along with a spring in my step
he comes not when flowers were blooming in spring
he comes not when the first rays of morning sun disturbed their repose
he comes not when my eyes were bright and excited
he comes not when a bright morning shining with the sun
but when the moon landing
the floor was dappled with pale moonlight
by the light of the moon I could just make out shapes and outlines
in the moonlight
a light rain began to fall
when a thought flitted through my mind
he comes to me
the rain was falling steadily..
a smile flitted across his face
the rain poured down
he grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let go
