Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel by

I love these little animals, even if they are only squirrels. They are very common in Colorado. They are much smaller than “regular” squirrels. They hibernate in winter. This one appears to be very young. Its body was only about 4 inches from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.

I’ve never been able to capture these guys, too quick, EXCELLENT!

  • Thank you, Debbie. These guys hang out at a regional park north of where I live. I think they are used to people. Sunflowers seeds make a nice lure, too.
