    The glorious tones of autumn. I love the depth of this image, the dark of the woods alongside the dying yellow. It is now autumn here, and I will try to emulate what you’ve done.

    Just browsing your portfolio and this one caught my eye. Nice the way that one gold tree kind of pops out against the darker background. Know what you mean about the fog, in central Calif. visibility can get very close to 0.

  • Lori Peters replied

    Hi, Les. Thank you for stoping by and leaving a comment. This picture was taken at about 7500 feet and sometimes the visibility can be very low. It can make driving frustrating. xo

    Amazing capture….Wonderful colours.

    I think that I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a tree.
    A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
    Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
    A tree that looks at God all day
    And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
    A tree that may in Summer wear
    A nest of robins in her hair;
    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who intimately lives with rain.
    Poems are made by fools like me,
    But only God can make a tree.
    ~Joyce Kilmer, “Trees,” 1914

    Fog is cool, but best taken in small doses!! It really is wonderful for some images, like this one.

  • Lori Peters replied

    I love misty days. Sometimes I can see wisps passing in front of my eyes. I can touch it. I think it is awesome. I don’t like it when it is so thick that I can’t see where to turn when I am driving . xo

  • Les Smutz

    I hear that! I love being above the clouds or level with them when they are in wisps. I used to have a cabin in the Sierras and driving up the canyon the clouds would often hover at eye level out over the middle of the canyon. There is no way to capture that 3D in a still picture, but it is a really cool feeling, kind of like flying. Clouds are right up there in my top three favorite things.
