In the abandoned asylum. Sunset. by

See the world through my eyes.

Amateur photographer living in Norway, in a small town close to the Swedish border. On the edge of the Taiga, the vast forest that starts here and goes all the way through Siberia to Vladivostok, covering the whole northern Eurasia. Walking around with my camera capturing everyday life.

My great aunt was put in an asylum many years ago, my ongoing project is to find out what happened to her and why she was abandoned. This portrays some of the feeling I imagined she might have felt, great capture & mood.

  • Thank you :-). Looking into the history of mental health care can be a very sad task. Many residents of the asylums suffered a quite horrific fate. You can still feel it in the atmosphere there. When photographing there I only do what feels ok and respectful. I hope you aunts story turns out to be ok.

  • And yet, for some the asylums were a home, a sanctuary. You can feel that there too. Have you tried checking geneaology forums for leades on your aunt?
