Photography: A daily prayer
Photography for me is a daily prayer, a quiet contemplation upon the beauty of creation, of nature, where the connection to the divine source becomes so obviously apparent. The intention of this art is to communicate exactly that: the unity of all things, their unison and their refulgence, their silent glow, their connectedness with each other and with us. Thereby it is more the context than the content which I am interested in photographically as well as spiritually.
The Wisdom of a Soft Focus (bokeh)
However, perception operates the other way around. Our senses are programmed to focus and isolate and thereby nearly disregard everything else. But exactly that context – everything that was excluded by focusing – is in these images that which gives the detail the energy of the whole. The individual cannot be fully grasped without its enviroment.
There is a wisdom in a soft focus which will be missed in the common way of perception. The limiting shapes will be transcended into aura-like color spaces which melt into each other and bring something new into being: colors and movements which previously were not disernable. Everything becomes one.
In Devotion to the Light
The light is thereby the life-giving aspect which provides the colors its luminous power and meaning. Like everything in nature leans towards the light, the devotion to the light and to the glow is not just a photographic technical necessity but rather also an inner prerequisite and an expression of the devotion to God in this art.
Dear visitor, I hope that my art will give you that which originally art wanted to give all along: through receiving beauty a realization of the connectedness with the Divine – with All, That Is – and therefore an awakening of profound gratefulness for the ability to exactly receive that.
„The Beautiful is the real Presence of God in matter and the contact with beauty in the full sense of the word a sacrament.“ — Simone Weil
