rich acres

as daylight began its final turn
we found one anothers hand
and took flight.

music gave us strength
as we passed the low willow,
tipping its tears into the shallows.

only the low reflection was left
fragments of light
emitting outward,

waning,
waning.

the world seemed to come alive
as a distant dog fox barked
in a remote corner of the night.

so as all slept
the brave stirred then rose
with us, as we strode
with strength, and purpose

with no more than a past to guide us
across these rich acres.
