a baby cries

somewhere inside, a baby cries,
like a fledgling hardly learnt to fly,
finds the ground again,
spinning ’round again.

i hear it crying now,
for the unkept promise
for he’s left behind.

all the lambs are playing
in the wide field out,
they are structured
for they have their life,

saw a swallow land
to gather mud,
heard the thumping
of the beating blood.

i hear it crying now
found the puddle, and looked into it,
knew if i’d wanted to
i could drown in it.

somewhere inside, a baby cries
‘i only want to feel
you just one more time,
touch me
and you will make it fine’

there is no touch
only the passage of life,
and for that
i harness myself to your side,

i feel your hand
feel it now,

in my mind,
in my mind.
