There Is No Virtue In Silence by Jak Savage (aka Unbeknown)

You engage me sturdy
Head on
Outstretched bright.
Silence yearning
Show fists with all your might.

I charge forth
With brutal barge
I don’t take flight.
Challenged heavy
I have the courage to fight,

I shall not falter
Nor tumble down
For hollow plight.
My freedom
I will hold on to this tight.

Yearning stance
Bound by thrust
Not to your delight.
I’ll stand my ground
I will have my right.

This is a self portrait I am assuming.
You look fierce…like you are certain…
    …and about to roar…
    like a lioness! :)

  • Thank you Lacey so much, three years ago… grown my hair somewhat since then. I was inspired by the words a wonderful fellow redbubbler to have faith that all will come around, can and will do. Hence the confident unveiling. :) Glad you like this one – I didn’t want people to think it was pretentious… more making a statement of confidence that I felt a few days ago x

your words: “there is no virtue in silence” speak to my soul. I have been waiting on a problem that I’ve been unable to solve, and your words have completed the circle for me. I thought I used to know this (no virtue in silence), then I spoke my mind in a very touchy family situation, and the ties were cut, and I became unsure of myself (maybe I should learn to keep my big mouth shut?) But your words here have affirmed to me what I always thought was true. Thank you for what this piece means to me, and I applaud you for what this piece means to you. Excellent photo, your spirit shines strong, and excellent write as well. Peace, friend. X

  • Thank you so much dab for your time and continued support – you know the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life was not taking heed of this – my own words.

Self persecution through silence is not the answer I found, however, it may keep the boat steady for others. Being free of burden by letting go does take courage. Some people would argue that the moral thing to do (if what you have to say will upset people) is say nothing.

I would be inclined to agree on minor and unimportant things in life, we do need to embrace the knowledge of when to step back, just as much as stepping forwards. Never to the detriment of your well being or the well being of others though, we should never be silenced.

Be strong in the knowledge that your instincts are right, your heart is in the right place and something is always better than nothing… nothing worse than regret in doing nothing when you could have done something.

I’m giving you a virtual hug here dab. Much peace to you too, friend x
