My father had a Homestead on the prairies here in Canada, back in the early forties, when I was a young gaffer. These little (gophers) ground squirrels used to be all over the pasture where our cattle grazed, and the smaller calves often stumbled when their small feet got caught in the holes. As kids we used to pour water down the holes and watch these little fellows scamble for their lives when they surfaced…We sure were naughty then, but boys will be boys… Would not even think of doing that now…There was no radio, no TV, back they…Had to think of something for our special entertainment…..LOL
