Location: Taken in the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The Lynx have a short tail and characteristic tufts of black hair on the tip of their ears. They have a ruff under the neck, which has black bars (not very visible), resembling a bow tie. They have large padded paws for walking on snow, and long whiskers on the face. The body color varies from medium brown to gold-ish to beige-white; and occasionally, is marked with dark brown spots, especially on the limbs. All species of lynx also have white fur on their chests, bellies and on the insides of their legs, which are extensions of the chest and belly fur. Also, the lynx’s coloring, fur height and paw size varies by its climate range
Range: Conirerous and mixed forests in the Northern half of North America.

Diet: Mice, hares, squirrels, deer, and birds.

Status: Secure, although exterminated from much of its southern range.

    Great capture, Larry- I have only ever seen a lynx once, by the side of the Alcan highway near Fort Nelson- it was exhilarating, they are beautiful animals!!

    Wonderful image Larry. When I was at the Denver Zoo Thursday, I did not see a Lynx. They’re a great cat.

    Larry – what a superb capture! This is one beautiful cat! We saw one once in 2000 on the road from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay. Yours is an amazing shot, and a fav for me!
