Location: Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Alberta Canada

This place always inspires me each time I visit. It is considered Canada’s “Diamond in the Wilderness,” and the “Hiking Capital of Canada”. The region abounds with spectacular scenery, from glaciers to waterfalls.

“The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes.
If you…ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it.
Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty,
it will remain with you all the days of your life.”

Quotation by Frank Lloyd Wright

Note: This photo was taken at dusk back in the summer of 1982, with my old Canon TX…A completely manual film camera.

A self taught amateur photographer who resides in beautiful Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is a prairie city in the center of Canada. My dear wife Marg and I have been married for 52 years, and we have 2 married daughters and 3 grandchildren to share our busy lives.I love to read, practice photography, spend time with my family, play around on the computer, and volunteer a lot of my time at our local Nature Center, where I serve as an interpreter for kids programs.

Why are they candid? We are Eva and Klaus! In this case it was more Klaus than Eva ;-))

  • When I say candid, I simply mean sincere, honest…Thanks

Superb photo Larry and it has scanned well. Such a glorious, restful scene. It is how I have always imagined Canada and Alaska to be. What is the white line? I imagine it is the sun hitting the far end of the lake, right? Or is it is top of a dam wall or something? I can’t quite make it out. Is this very far from where you are in Winnipeg? All best wishes, Peter

  • Hi Peter, the white line is the reflections off the glacier in the background, as it is surrounded completely by the Rockies on all sides…NOTE: I have not been back there in several years, so it would be interesting to see what a current photo would be like, since the glacier has retreated quite a bit by now…Thanks Peter for taking the time to view this image, much appreciated friend.

For sure it is the Diamond in the wildernis! I have been there again last year but the mist covered most of the lake. Love your image! annemarie

This looks like a very tough shot on a cloudy day. You have pulled it off wonderfully, Larry. The horizon on the lake is just as stunning as the snow capped peak.

  • Thanks Clark, I always appreciate your candid comments, kind Sir
