The World As We See It , or as we missed it….3 June 2012

It shows how the Pioneers of yesteryear lived in concert with nature during the late 1800’s on the prairies in the midwest. The prairie was constantly changing. Huge herds of grazing bison churned the soil with their hooves opening it to woody invaders like snowberry. The ebb and flow of wet and dry periods encouraged moisture loving trees and shrubs or drought-tolerant grasses. Vast fires sometimes extending for thousands of miles in length and several hundred in breadth, took their toll on woody plants. However, the carpet of grasses and and forbs rebounded and flourished soon after these fast moving fires. In these times, man’s presence did not drastically change the landscape.

A self taught amateur photographer who resides in beautiful Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is a prairie city in the center of Canada. My dear wife Marg and I have been married for 52 years, and we have 2 married daughters and 3 grandchildren to share our busy lives.I love to read, practice photography, spend time with my family, play around on the computer, and volunteer a lot of my time at our local Nature Center, where I serve as an interpreter for kids programs.
