This image has been nominated for the prestigous Pay it Forward Group,
by Tainia Finlay and this is what she very kindly had to say about it…
“I love this not only for the colour but also the feeling of times past, taken in Shoreditch, London. This building has withstood two world wars and could say so much about life over the years in that part of London. Umbra has a unique way of illustrating candid street life in London. One of my favourite artists on RB.”
Thanks so much Tai :))

OK-favourite, straight away. Great textures and comp.
Urban Umbra replied
Thanks Barry, unusually trusting for us to have shutters on the outside…someone might nick ‘em :))
artchicnj
Being a mixed media, artist, I love the textures. They are similar to textures i try to ‘create’ on canvas.
Urban Umbra replied
Thanks artchicnj :)) these places are disappearing fast, with developers moving in everywhere. Its hard to find anywhere run down anymore…
shallay
I dream of finding a facade like this – excellent find, nice work!!
Urban Umbra replied
thanks shallay, me too :)) I wanted a wider view but there were too many cars about :( problem is, its smack bang in the middle of a very busy area [especially weekends]...but I shall persist.
ericseyes
Very nice work, I love old doors like this. Keep wanting to get around my town and shoot some. There are many I see and wish to photograph.
Urban Umbra replied
Thanks ericseyes, you’re lucky, these are pretty rare here and usually obstucted by cars…

Sooo much history here, a bit of London I imagine fast disapearing now. Wonderful capture umbra!!
Urban Umbra replied
I tried to find this today, but no luck? must be on Platform 9¾… If the weather’s fine, I’ll have another look next weekend. Strange though, I’ve passed by here a few times, but the first time I go looking, I can’t find it!
muckypup
I’m going to have to do a bit more wandering around. Maybe not in East London though.
I love the texture (and of course the red)
Urban Umbra replied
Thanks muckypup :)) I always keep an eye out for muggers around here ;)
NrthLondonBoy
awesome! I’ve a thing for weird doors and derelict looks – makes you think about the history of the place and its shady past! Beats glass and steel of the rest of the city!
Urban Umbra replied
Thanks NrthLondonBoy :) I’ve remembered where it is finally, Princelet Street, not far from Bishopsgate…there’s loads of beauties around there :)
