    Tamme Marshall

    Hello…... nobodies there!
And Jen – Dr. Who had a POLICE BOX not a Telephone box – how many times I gotta tell ya that???? : P

Awesome shot – was the box really leaning – or is that just because of the angle of the photo?

  • Urban Umbra replied

    Thanks Tamme :))

Its a bit of both, but more leaning than wide angle…ish

  • janeymac

    janeymac

AYE?? are you Scottish umbra ? I am too.
I remember the phone boxes when they woulld ring people would look and keep walkng!!
    Great shot !!! Jane

  • Urban Umbra replied

Me ? no just my name…
...a mate of mine answers those calls and the takes the mick out of the caller!!! why, I have no idea ;))

  • shallay

    shallay

I’ve never struck a ringing phone box, except on Amelie. You can’t ring them because they have letters as well as numbers – but then this isn’t Scotland.
Yes, I was wondering about the lean and maybe a wide-angle lens – love the way everything leans – bikes as well! Lone red looks great in a photo.
    Knock knock
    Who’s there?
    Doctor.
    Doctor Who?
    (groan)

  • Urban Umbra replied

I’ve haven’t used one for years, but I’ve sheltered in them to make cellphone calls on noisy streets :)) I’ll never go to heaven now…I love the look of them, they’re reassuring in some way :)) This one I think had been attacked by a gang of moles…repeatedly headbutting the underneath, trying to knock it over!!!--bloody vandals

  • janeymac

    janeymac

Shallay the phone box has anumber on the interior which you can call , both in Scotland and here.I am talking about years ago . Jane

I like iT !! Is that phone box about to bust out o the ground or what !? I like it for it’s kooky-ness ! Love the use of color.

  • Urban Umbra replied

Thanks Sarah :)) the paving slabs underneath were all busted up, definitely some shenanigans going on somewhere….maybe

    georgiegirl

sorry everyone, but the Doc has a police box, not a phone box… the phone box is for Get Smart and Superman.
This should be in the selective colouring group. A great photo (is it wonky or just on a hill? or is it my eyesight!!!!)

  • Urban Umbra replied

Thanks georgiegirl :)) ...its on a slight hill, a bit wonky and the camera’s only about a foot off the floor…its not SC just taken on a very dull day and a bit de-saturated, so it came out looking like this…

  • savosave

    savosave

    great shot

  • Urban Umbra replied

    Thanks very much savosave :))

  • georgiegirl

    georgiegirl

Just cos you didn’t recolour the photo doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be allowed in selective colouring (unless its one of their rules I guess). Mother Nature did the work for you!!

  • Urban Umbra replied

Thanks georgiegirl, I never thought of it like that…I’ll give it a go and see :))

I love your take on London Umbra, you have a way of illustrating what others may walk on by and pass without even noticing the possibilities. I have a collection of 43 of these beauties in model form of varying sizes! The excentric English woman abroad lol! Great job!

  • Urban Umbra replied

Thanks very much Tai :)) These red phoneboxes are more English than the Queen. I love them. Always trying to think of a way to include them in a shot :) I know its a bit tourist(y) but who cares! Usually I’ll wait till someone walks into shot…then I can call it a candid ;).
