Too old for love, no one cares!

Dream on little girl, dream on
The time has come for you to wake
There is no knight in shining armour
There is no prince valiant at the gate

Time has passed and you have strayed
You’ve missed the treasures that await
Too old to care, that is not so
Too old to attract, oh yes I know

A lonely soul you shall become
No one to court or make you run
Your days are numbered and beauty slips
Your tomorrow certainly looks bleak

For what is life when it’s not shared
With someone else that really cares
Time to just live and just do things
Pretending life is so complete

You’ve missed the boat, how well you know
Too late for love and yes it shows.

Powerful and I am sure felt by men and women alike Elisabeth. I think perhaps a good reason to find joy, hope and love from within to carry us through life. We were all created separate from another and that creation was complete. It stands to reason that we can be all we need and may not need someone else to complete us. I would be the first person to admit that it would be wonderful to have someone in my life to share it with. Life sometimes just doesn’t deliver that and so we fill it with other things. I love that you addressed this. A beautiful write.

  • Thank you Donna and so glad you have elaborated on my meaning. It is a topic well forgotten and as we grow old!
