T'was Christmas Eve

A short Movie script I wrote a few years back, that I would like to share…mainly because it was written with a Christmas theme….it is a sad story.…

T’was Christmas Eve

EXT. RUE BELSIDE BRIDGE – EVENING
The sun sets as light snow falls over the small stone footbridge that spans the narrow Belside river; crossing it, a dozen or so joyous families, dressed in early 1900 European winter fashions, heads south towards a small candle lit church.

A wooden road sign is located near the footbridge, next to a dozen singing Carolers with lantern in hands, points towards the North; it reads ‘Rue Belside’.

A few meters away, to the Western end, near a manual water pump stands MARION, dressed in rags, watches the crowd.

Marion, a well worn 25 year old searchingly gazes towards the joyous crowd, holds tigh

What is reality?

With open hands I touch my mirror
A moment of darkness becomes much clearer
As my body transcends in its realm
I am entranced and totally overwhelmed

Darkness subsides and a dream-like effect
Takes over my being, in every aspect.
So light, so free and yet so confused
As to where I am although slightly enthused

Have I fallen, am I dreaming,
What is this space where I am standing
Am I standing or maybe lying
Nothing around to get my bearing

A sudden rush of warmth surrounds me
A gentle heart-beat resonates within me
My need for breath becomes reality
My mind is pure and free from memory

A push, a shove, breaks up my world
As things around begin to sw

by peaceofthenorth

I have been given permission to translate this wonderful image. I will be starting soon.

This going to be fun. I absolutely adore Auroras . One of the most spectacular shows our Earth has on offer !

This Journal will take you through the life of my painting…stay tune :)

Day 1 – Sunday Oct 30th, 2011
Decided to go with oils…IT HAS BEEN too long and may get out of practice :)

I have been using Acrylics for the last 3 years as they dry so much faster but I love my oils :)
I am under-painting at the present. Drying time is going to be much longer and I will hence begin another painting at the same time :)

I am very excited to exhibit in SoJie 14. SoJie 14 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. 61 other members of the Solo Exhibition group, besides myself, are exhibiting.

This exhibition is based on an open workshop, in which I participated. There, members translated participants’ traditional artworks to our respective favorite medium and style, as traditional, photographic, or digital art.

Non members, as well as members, ARE welcome to view all of the work on show. So I hope that you will click the show ba

Self Portrait

Now this is going to be one of the hardest things I have ever tried to do.
I can draw or paint anyone but “ME” a horrible challenge I have placed on myself
I am using my Avatar as my model

I will first sketch then paint it in Acrylics

Day one: posting my initial sketch…something is not quite right…
need to figure what it is.
Here is the sketch anyway !

Day 2… I have erased the whole left side of my face…I stared at it trying to figure what I had done wrong…I realised I had widen my face way too much and the eye was hence way out of place.
Back to the drawing board…I knew this would happen.
I will be amazed if I finish it.

Fingers crossed :)

day 3 -I gave it another shot.

Midnight Rose

This is a 12×24 acrylic on board. the background is black so you will notice I am a little off color with the photo.…

What I am aiming to portray is the fragility of love. A woman holds onto a rose that blooms only at night as during the day, she becomes vulnerable.

I will create a verse at the end of the painting :)

To begin this journey, I first have to thank Elizabeth Burton’s for allowing me to do a Digital Translation of her image “Visions in the dark”…

Visions In The Dark
by Elizabeth Burton
.

I wanted to keep in the spirit of things and have her image play a big part on my final result.

I wanted to create someting that would make you think twice, something cosmic and yet almost real.
I searched through collections of space photography and found two of my favorites, perfect to satisfy my visions.

my next step was to manipulate Elizabeth’s image to suit my need.

The forest of twins

In a far far away land, a magical forest boasts a uniqueness. It has a parallel regarding its Fauna and Flora to Australia’s. This forest reveals a wonderful secret that I am about to share with you…. It is inhabited by twins.…

It all happened when I drove to Manly, Queensland one weekend, on one of my photographic excursions, desperately in search of fresh stock photos.

I found plenty :)

I came upon a tree located a few meters away from where I had parked.
This tree, majestic and full of character, became the focus of my translation of “Autumn / by Veikko Suikkanen”

My first photo is that of the tree.

Next, it’s Photoshop…I cloned and flipped the tree also moved it further back and reduced its size, creating a “twin”

Translating “Storm” by Janis Zrobrack…

Storm
by Janis Zroback

Janis has a small verse that accompanies her painting. this and her wonderful painting gives me the inspiration to create “Raw Emotions”

Janis’ verse
When the storm came, it was like a roaring in her ears that would never stop…
Relentless it hammered on the roofs, streaming down the window panes obscuring the night…
Was it her tears, or the rain that was salt on her tongue?
Wind battered the trees, bending them to the ground..she felt their pain…the lashes burning her skin..
The torment of the skies was her torment… rooted to the ground she swayed in concert with the gale, twisting and turning, screaming with no sound…excerpt…JZroback…The Last Storm

Life at Sea

Magnificient Sea
by jyruff

I am translating a traditional painting by Joseph Ruff into digital Art.

I have chosen 3 photos from my own stock and will create something that I am hoping will captivate the beauty of the big fish I love called “Marlins”.

wip 1 life at sea
by Elisabeth Dubois

I will first start with the background as I want to get the warmth that Joseph has portrayed in his painting.
I chose one of my cloud photos that has a sun beam as Joseph has rendered one in his painting, as a sky feature. I will be emphasizing it in mine.

wip 2 life at sea
by Elisabeth Dubois

I am working in Photoshop. I made two layers of this image and reduced the opacity of the top layer to 50%. I then played with the saturation till I was happy with the color and effect.

My first marlin is introduced and
