So beautiful, adore her pink color. Always love your commentaires too, Ellen, and the descriptions of the mediums & papers you use. What is sand paper. We have sand paper here, but its what is used to scrape things like wood, etc. Is this the same? Really love the effect

  • udonchow replied

Thanks so muchie Pinky! :D Yes,it’s the same sandpaper :D They have the brown and black ones, this one is on black….it’s quite fun doing this, maybe you can try too. I bought a small piece of wooden plank,am half way through another Ophelia piece :D

this is great Ellen, love how you’ve utilised sandpaper as the substrate…and oil pastels….great idea…great toothy grip for your pastels too i’ll bet! wonder how chalk pastel would fair on the sandpaper….hmm probably would disintegrate too much in the process….dust everywhere i expect :D

Ophelia looks delightful as always, in her lovely pink plumage with her lovely outlook on life, that love is like the deep blue sea, beautifully represented by the lovely blue background!!

  • udonchow replied

Thank you Karin!! I hope you are not bored with her constant appearance :D You are right about the great toothy grip, I like the feel and the sounds it makes too when oil pastels rub onto its’ surface :D I happened to be at the stationery shop the other day, thought I might as well grab a piece and experiment with it. :D

COOL!!! you used sandpaper?? i had a similar thought in mind as Karin.. was wondering if it eats up alot of the pastel.. then i learnt you used oil not chalk pastel.. still.. it must have eaten quite alot of the pastel eh? hehe.. sounds so fun.. wish i can see you painting, Live! XD

  • udonchow replied

Smart girl!! Yes, used up pretty much of it for a small piece like this. See me live? I was told I’m always frowning when I paint/draw…dunno why….super concentrating I think :D

  • frozenfa

    frozenfa
