The Sower

The Sower

Oil Pastel and Acrylic

Concept: Like The Dreamer, this was drawn on the first year anniversary, 365 days of being on my own after resigning from previous job. I feel that I’m in the season of sowing, toiling in love for the things that matter most to me. The heat is on! Will press on nevertheless!! :D

I love the little hat and again, the darling expression on the owl’s face…also the swirls of grass beneath her feet…it is always so enjoyable to read of your concepts, and the meanings behind your wonderful character paintings…...i like the way you look at this, as being tehe ‘season’ of toiling hard for what you believe in…..i think in ‘seasons’ also…..and i find it a very helpful way to live, especially when times are hard….i imagine, ‘this is just for a season’ and then the sun will shine again once more…as it always does!!! beautiful work udonchow!!

Thanks for sharing my deepest sentiments about this drawing, it makes the journey ahead less lonely and more bearable :D There are times when self doubt creeps in and stick out their ugly heads…and you wonder if there’s anymore strength left within you to overcome these monsters. There’s always the tendency to think in reverse….the “I should have done this or not have done that” I’m comforted that drawing gives me the outlet to put my thoughts and fears into correct positive perspective. If there’s no sowing, there can be of reaping….I have learned to respect the law of nature :D

  • udonchow replied

slip of the fingers again…I mean “there can be no reaping” if there’s no sowing :D

i was kinda curious by the different textures in this piece, until i see your reply to vestque! hehe.. wow.. pastel and acrylic.. cool combination! i really like how you did the swirls for the grass.. i love that lil stalk of leaves sprouting out.. it’s like, the beginning of a new life.. and that it’s still young/early.. there’s so much more to come.. and the owl will be right there to work as hard as it does to grow! XD
i love the lil hat on the owl and the whites makes it look like lil owl’s hard at work, sweating a lil.. =D lovely piece, Ellen!! you’ll do great am sure!! =D

The descriptions that accompany your images are great! Ophelia is such a dreamer and this comes across… I wonder how much of you is in her? A lot I think!!! Great colours in this and a very positive feel to it… like anythings possible.

  • udonchow replied

Yep Ophelia is a dreamer and she’s also a realist! She knows that belief in her dreams is not enough, she has to act on her beliefs :D :D :D
