Welcome to RB! What stunning work – you certainly have captured the Aussie light. Wonderfuil.

  • Spoken by an Aussie by the sounds! Pieter’s history is in Europe (Netherlands) but he migrated to Australia as a child in the 1960s. His father was a painter in the Amsterdam Cellars and tutored Pieter in the cross hatching and other impressionist techniques. Pieter adapted this to the Australian light. In one of his recent books he shows the old Dutch master style and how he changed the tonal values to suit the Australian light. Nice that you have commented on this. We have recently moved to Tassie and the light has changed again so he is enjoying the new challenges. Thanks again for your comment and I am enjoying the new (for me) Red bubble experience.

    Hi Tanya,
Thank you so much for the feedback. Is a copy of the book “Our Australian Kelpie” available at all, anywhere. I really would like to find one. I will check with my library too but i have not noticed it previously.
Once again thanks for the suggestions to see Pieter’s work on line

  • Hi Diko – If you look up the exact words Our Australian Kelpie on the web you will often find a second hand copy or two. They sometimes sell in rare book shops as it has been out of print for some time. I know that Astrolabe booksellers in Hobart have a copy. You might try their website.
We have just started selling a range of kelpie products (t-shirts coffee mugs which includes a selection of 6 large prints from the original book (signed by Pieter). They are on our website. Hope this is of some help. Cheers, Tanya
