    Gorgeous shot Colin..it doesn’t look like a pied wagtail fledgling or juvenile..the streaks on the flank put me in mind of a meadow pipit or skylark . It certainly looks to be a young bird..did you get it from any other angles?

  • Cheers mate. No this was the only shot I managed then it was away. There were a few wagtails about at the time so I erroneously assumed. Thanks for the info I’ll wait and see if anyone else has an idea.

    Here’s a young meadow pipit which is closer to your bird than a wagtail.Yours seems to have less streaking but that could be the reflected light.I would say in the absence of any other id’s coming in,it’s a meadow pipit.It looks a bit more bedraggled but maybe it had been bathing.

  • I think you are right, looking on another site I found another picture of a meadow pipit and it did resemble it. In the absence of any other offers I’ll go with that. Appreciate your help mate, I’m a real dumbo with birds!
