The Railway has long been a favourite of yours truly you’re guaranteed a good meal and a first class pint of real ale if you ever visit.

Situated between the Skipton to Leeds railway line and the Leeds – Liverpool canal it has in it’s time served travellers from both water and rail (the railway station was axed in the 60’s). Today’s clientelle are mainly walkers, cyclists, bargees and anglers from the canal and locals.

With the exception of the tasteful restaurant extension the pub is totally upspoilt, a rare change from the plastic designer pubs and bars springing up everywhere these days.

Thanks for taking the time to browse my portfolio, I hope you see something you like. Colin.

What lovely memories come flooding back! This used to be THE watering hole of mine many moons ago! Loved it, on a hot summer’s day, just by the side of the canal! Supped in there many a time! Still do occasionally! Just think, we might have seen each other and not known who we are!! …..Fantastic shot of this lovely old pub Colin.. Beautifully rendered, instant fave! S:)x

  • Could well have been. We used to go to the folk nights many moons ago, then it was daytimes with the lads, there used to be a playground at the back. And just recently some friends of ours have taken over as landlords so we give them some teatime trade. Thanks for looking Sandi!

Great shot, Colin. Love the dark stone contrasting with the pale mortar, so characteristic of buildings of a certain age in this area.

  • Thanks Steve appreciated!
