Pitaya, First Bloom

Pitaya, First Bloom

This bloom is on a plant we gave to our neighbor. Ours are still in bud! If the flower falls off naturally a tasty fruit, which looks like Kiwi on the inside, is produced.

Yes it does. Let your flower stay on to see if you get fruit. Thanks for commenting!

a beautiful flower, never heard of this plant before, dawnxx

  • Kathryn Eve Ry... replied

I hadn’t either. I actually posted it on a discussion board on Yahoo. The Pitaya group told me what it was. But, it may not be because it has fine, hairlike thorns on the fruit.

Beautiful shot of a beautiful flower, it looks very similar to our Christmas Cactus flowers! same color, too. Thanks for sharing,:o)) God Bless,Mae

  • Kathryn Eve Ry... replied

It is similar but much larger than any Christmas Cacti I’ve seen. The bloom is close to 15 cm. I really appreciate you putting me on your watch list and looking at my work!
