A UNICORN

When I was a child so innocent
Days having fun were spent
In our yard around the trees
Running along as I pleased
One day when I turned around
Because I heard an unusual sound
There was A UNICORN following me
In clear sight for all to see
Being amazed and seeing his face
I went over and traced
My hand over the horn on his head
He was so beautiful and he was red
Now everyone knows Unicorns are white
But not mine and we were in the light
I saw him as clear as can be
At the time it was only him and me
He let me pet him for a long time
I thought for a moment he was mine
His head and his body were that of a horse
He was very beautiful of course
His hind legs were that of a stag
And his tail was that of a lion as it wagged
But as I turned away he disappeared
And in my eyes were many tears
I really loved the Unicorn you see
I didn’t understand why he couldn’t stay with me
