The pages of the book open
A sad heart broken
An invasion of her privacy
Red was all she could see
How could he look
In such a personal book
What possible reason could there be
For someone to want to see
Her personal thoughts and ideas
Reasons for her fears
Tears were now being shed
As she went to bed
He could not find the key
She kept it hidden you see
He broke the lock
Hitting it with a rock
He had no regard for her wishes
She would never again give him kisses
At 14 she was not a woman..yet not a child
Always sweet and never wild
She saw him the next morning
And without any warning
Threw her diary at him
Asked him why he committed this sin
He told her I was worried about you
Wanted to know what you do
She told him don’t ever expect
For me to ever respect
Anything you say to me
You have no dignity
I will never again keep a diary
And I will be wild as can be
You destroyed what we once had
I no longer consider you my dad
He cast his eyes to the floor
And said no more
He held his arms out to embrace
His daughter with the glowing face
She cried as he held her tight
Knowing that she had been right
Never again did he touch
HER DIARY that meant so much

Mel, Thank you so much…I think parents sometimes invade their
childrens’ privacy..most time only for fear of their children being
hurt..and the hurt of the invasion is worse…Sally xxoo

Beautifully written Sally – a diary is such a personal thing – especially when you are young. Trust between parent and child is so important – you have shown us just how much! xxx

children growing up and getting into trouble..but to read someone’s personal thoughts..not

A trust between a parent & child is a fragile bond. One slip & its gone forever. Wonderful work.
