She hid the bruises
Hidden pain
Of a life
So insane
Parents beating on a child
A good little girl
Not at all wild
She sits in the corner
Afraid to utter even a word
Will be beaten
If she is heard
Bruises on arms
And legs too
A little child
Life so new
Knowing if they are mad
Will blame her
For being bad
Goes to school
No one cares
Goes home
And fear tears
Through her little heart
Broken in half
After they beat her
They both laugh
Crushed soul
Broken bones
Pain tears at her
All alone
Goes to the hospital
Lies told
Not believed
Too many bruises old
They are reported
At long last
Child saved
Cannot forget the past

this is so true to life and so sad , it is even sad when an adult goes through so many wonds

Elisabeth, I think it is so important that people outside the family
who notice bruises or children hurting help..if one poem helps one
child..it would be wonderful..it is a subject that will come up many

I am sad to say and even ashamed that I have case loads full of these children….....and ashamed that I belong to a Society that perpetuates this form of torture…....No child should live in Fear…NO child should know physical pain from its Parents….inflicted mindlessly…...NO child should know hunger…....BUT THEY DO…........each day many still live with this…....and until WE stop it..it will continue…................

Man’s inhumanity to man …......is a horrible thing to behold, yet it is all you see on the T.V. everytime you turn it on. Wonderfully written with a great ending. Lovely.
