BEING A POET

BEING A POET
Clouds my mind
I really don’t always know it
I think of words all the time
My grandfather a gypsy
He passed onto me
His life so tipsy
Filled with poetry
Sometimes I want to rest
The words..however..keep flying around
And that’s when I’m at my best
Hearing the loving word sounds
Like love, amore and forever-after
So I write poetry one-two-three
And after my uncontrolled laughter
I realize I..too..am a gypsy

Love that your grandfather has passed on his wonderful gift to you – thank you for sharing what it’s like to paint with words! xxx

I LOVE IT. I can see how the words fly around because you are putting them out so fast. :o) I can hardly keep up. LOL. Your grandfather must have been a hoot to be with. You must be a blast to be with and all I could do is imagine. LOL.

  • Sally Omar replied

Mia, Thank you so much…Unfortunately my grandfather died
shortly before I was born..and his gift to me was his GYPSY SOUL
and POETRY…for which I always thank him..one day when we
meet in THE PEACEFUL PLACE..I will give him a BIG KISS and
tell him how much I love him…My son is named after him and is
    a songwriter/guitar player/singer…the gift of my grandfather’s
music (he was a mandolin player/singer/songwriter/poet) was
    also passed onto him..Sally xxoo

Beautiful piece. Your grandfather was obviously a great man.

  • Sally Omar replied

Wayne, Wish I knew him..my mom adored him and told me so many
stories of how they would sit by a coal stove and he would relate
his gypsy stories and recite poetry he wrote..play his mandolin
and sing songs he wrote..he was a dreamer..and he died shortly
before my birth..he passed some of his gifts onto me..and you know
how they say people have “old souls”..I feel I do and it is my
grandfathers (I intend to write a poem about that soon…thank
    you so much..Sally xxoo
