Casper, The Cat (Chapter II)

Casper tired of playing with his toy mouse..as a matter of fact it went under
the brown armchair and he couldn’t reach it. He went back in the kitchen
and had a few crunchies..took a short nap..awoke all full of energy. He thought
I’m so bored..Mom is doing the laundry..Sparky is outside and I’m here all alone.
At that moment, he saw the door to the room where Mom kept her birds was
ajar. He was not allowed in this room. He really didn’t understand why since
he loved the feathers that were lying about on the floor. They swirled every
different way..and he could play for hours with one feather. Casper thought
sometimes Mom has rules I just don’t understand. He entered the room with
some trepidation. His movement frightened the birds and they all started
screaming..everyone was in their cages except Peaches..the Moluccan Cockatoo.
He had a run-in with Peaches before..however..Peaches won the first round.

He looked up at Peaches with his cunning eyes..Peaches eyes pinned as she
looked at him..her wings outstretched..screaming on the top of her lungs..he
wasn’t afraid of Peaches..what could she do to him..she was way up on the top
of the cage..and Casper was on the floor. So Casper went about his business
and Peaches slowly climbed down her cage ever so quietly and just as Casper
turned around..Peaches was on his tail..running after him..nipping at him. He
ran as quick as he could out of the room with Peaches not far behind. Just
as this scene took place.. up came Mom from the basement with a huge basket
of folded laundry.

She dropped the basket..put her hand under Peaches chest and picked her
up..giving Casper a look as if to say naughty cat. She returned Peaches to the
top of her throne and came out of the room making sure the door was tightly
closed behind her.

She picked up her laundry, not saying word and kept everything neatly and sat
down on a chair in the kitchen. Casper slowly walked in and peeked at his
Mom and wondered should I go close enough to her or is she going to yell at
me. I will look very solemn as if Peaches came out of the room when I was
minding my own business. So he walked over to her..carefully..and she looked
down at him and said was Peaches a naughty bird today..but Casper thought
she knows the truth but she loves me all the same.

Casper jumped on her lap and nestled his head to her breast listening to the
beating of her heart and thinking I’m such a lucky little boy.
