The Weeping Willow

As a child sitting on my pillow
I looked out the window at a Weeping Willow
And the Weeping Willow looked back at me
It was a huge strong tree

But I wondered in my childlike way
Was it crying for me today
How many people through the years
Saw that Weeping Willows tears

It moved with the wind and the leaves fell to the ground
They were scattered all around
Like the tears that fell from my eyes so readily
That Weeping Willow cried for me

The Weeping Willow saw that I was sad
And thought it’s swaying would make me glad
But, no, I then cried for the Weeping Willow Tree
And the Weeping Willow cried for me

I no longer live near that Weeping Willow Tree
But wonder if it remembers me
I think of it as an old friend
And remember how our tears would blend
