between light and dark
day and night
between the lines
of life and death
there is purgatory
where we sit naked
our bodies and souls
bared in humilation
a place of silence
and contemplation
where the soul
goes to be cleansed
and be free
to again walk among
those whose hearts beat
and dance in the sunlight
to be free of the baggage
that weighs one down
and drags souls
to the darkest of places
to the edge of disaster
ultimately we again
bask in the favor of God
